Daily Yinz – slowdanger – CRUEL HAND

slowdanger are an experimental performance body whose work fuses sound and movement; their latest album is called VEIL.

slowdanger have long used dissonant synths and eerie snippets of the human voice to build their mysterious sound cocoons, but VEIL represents a long stride into a swirling, noisy abyss. Grainy static whips the ears like a bitter wind, and, in place of the more traditional dance beats found on some earlier slowdanger releases, distorted percussion rumbles and staggers its way through the storm. “CRUEL HAND”s tectonic reverberations threatened to rend my computer’s speakers in two, and its ghostly vocal vocal echoes made the hair on my neck stand up. It’s not a song, but an incantation.
