Producer and singer Princess Nostalgia releases the video for “GET IT UP,” a track from her latest EP, INANNA.
Inanna was the Sumerian goddess of love, war, sex, divine law, and fertility, among other things. She acquired her domains through sheer will, wresting them away from other deities, collecting them like divine trading cards. Her Wikipedia page–the place where I learned these facts–shows her trampling on a lion’s head. It makes sense that “GET IT UP” would be found on an EP named after Inanna, because the electro bass that Princess Nostalgia unleashes here sounds like it could stomp a ferocious beast into submission. Heavy and distorted, it snarls rather than pulses. It’s accompanied by martial trap percussion, brass accents, and Princess Nostalgia’s slinky vocals; she switches between English and Italian as she threatens the listener with a good time. “Stay up way past your bedtime/Let your beauty shine in the moonlight,” she urges near the end of the track, before slipping off into the night, leaving a trail of blown-out speakers in her wake.
