Daily Yinz – Silver Car Crash – Crime

Silver Car Crash’s latest release, Shattered Shine (Crafted Sounds), finds the band reckoning with the transition from young adulthood to actual adulthood.

Over the course of the album, angular guitars and propulsive rhythms soundtrack the dawning realization that, in order to claw yourself out of the sucking morass of faded youth, you have to actually, meaningfully change–a frightening proposition indeed. “Crime,” whose precise, interlocking riffs recall an especially noisy Television, focuses on an old friend’s attempts to relieve anguish through reckless behavior. “There’s pain in your crime/There’s pain in my crime,” goes the refrain, which offers the deep, unvarnished understanding that can only be found at the point of true empathy, the one that rests between condemnation and condonation.
