Daily Yinz – CENTURY III – TIED IN KNOTS

CENTURY III is back with “TIED IN KNOTS,” the trio’s first release since 2020.

Century III the mall may be getting demolished piece by piece, but CENTURY III the band is still going strong. Funny enough, their new single, the pining “TIED IN KNOTS,” actually sounds like it was recorded in an abandoned mall. Skronky, surf-drenched guitar stabs ring out over a hip-shaking rhythm section, and guitarist Carrie Battle’s lead vocals, full of unrequited yearning, are bolstered by chipper harmonies–courtesy of bassist Sarah Ellis and drummer Kayla Schureman–that sound like they’re bouncing around a forty-foot-tall glass dome. Using the same alchemy that Diana Ross practiced decades ago with the Supremes, Century III takes lovesickness and transforms it into something ecstatically danceable. Make sure to catch the band supporting Shannon and the Clams and Tropa Magica this Friday at Spirit.
