Goblin Priest creates chiptune soundtracks to Nintendo games that exist only in the mind’s most wretched recesses.
The artist’s latest tape, BEYOND THE TEMPLE OF THE OPHIDIAN OOZE, was released in late July on Rochester, NY’s WereGnome Records, and it contains some gnarly bleeps and beeps. “Cephalopod Of Murderous Intent” slithers up with menace, its grubby 8-bit tentacles flailing about as it seeks to wrap you up and devour you with slimy mandibles. This one should strike a chintzy chord with anyone who spent hours frying their eyes and brain on the Gameboy as a kid.
